Brief History

Organised Scottish Dancing on the Côte d’Azur started when an international group of young children were taking part in a festival and local enthusiasts were requested to give them some basic tuition. As a result of this, the Club was founded in 1990, and from then on Scottish Dancing has continued regularly in the Mougins area.

The Club became an Official Association in 1993, and we still continue to thrive and to enjoy our dancing. We celebrated our 10th Anniversary in the year 2000 with an Open Day event for the general public, and a Club Ball in the evening. Our official 15th birthday coincided appropriately with a Burns’ Night which commemorated the 250th anniversary of the poet’s birth.

During these years, most weeks we have had a regular attendance comprised of several nationalities, and this enables us to form and dance two or three sets, although in common with many other dance groups we often suffer from a shortage of men.

We have links with other French and Italian groups who welcome us to dance with them.
